25 Best Places to Find a Freelancer

If you have been struggling with questions such as how to find a freelancer or where to find a web developer, graphical artist or PPC specialist the chances are you will find your answers here.  Please see below the list of 25 best places to find freelancers and small companies providing a broad variety of services.  This list links you to the 25 most popular freelancing directories, market places and other sites frequented by freelancers.  These websites give you the access to great variety of talent such as Programmers (Web developers, Software developers, Mobile and Database specialists, etc.), Graphic Designers, Writers, Marketing and Advertising specialists, SEO/SEM/SMM, Legal gurus, virtual assistants, data entry specialists, and so on.

BTW, Alexa rating is a great indicator of site popularity, the rating is calculated based on several components such as traffic to the website.

    I think I’d add TheSuperlancers to your list here. I’d like to see a list of places you use, this is my main one besides Project4Hire.

    Tons of cheap coders and designers, markerters, writers, whatever, but more programmers than projects for now so it’s probably a good time to fish for new coders and designers. I do. ;)

    Thanks for pointing me to this article, it’s good to know what is out there.

    I think http://www.expertMagnet.com differs from most of the others by having a reverse auction structure, where buyers can post a detailed request on what they need, and vendors can reply to that with a tailored response.

    Additionally, it focuses only on the Tertiary industry (the ‘knowledge economy’), and avoids the Secondary industry (manufacturing), where alibaba.com has a fairly strong foothold.

  10. Hi, I only knew about elance and getafreelancer. List is great. I have also heard that there are country-specific sites that are like local versions of craigslist where people can post jobs and get help. Certain countries have a stronger outsource/free lance community than others.

  23. I have found success on vworker but recently have run in to issues with them and the customer service, etc. I began browsing for new places and found http://www.ataskfreelancer. I think it’s worth mentioning on this list – I’ve already signed up and placed bids, they have free registration as they just recently launched so I think it’s worth a shot :)

  24. You should add FreelanceYourEbook.com to the list. Free to the clients, specifically for ebooks and misc eProjects, and writers go through a screening process to ensure they are of high quality. Also, the writers don’t need to pay monthly members and have unlimited bids.

  36. I’m working on a way to incorporate very personalized video that can be embedded onto freelancers’ personal websites, shared on Facebook / Twitter, e-mailed to friends and potential clients, etc – a way to promote a freelancer’s portfolio and personal brand.

Hi, there is another website which is totally free for recruiters and companies with personnel requirements called freelancermap (http://www.freelancermap.co.uk). freelancermap is an IT project platform that connects IT freelancers with companies that offer vacant jobs or projects. After registration users can publish unlimited vacancies to receive applications and use the freelancer database to find appropriate technology experts. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland freelancermap is one of the most successful networks in the market. The platform recently was launched for the UK too.

  46. You should also add in http://www.staff.com. It works like odesk.com but is mostly for full time work. You can outsource your work from the talented pool of resources from the Philippines, with quality results at cheaper labour costs!

This one focuses on creating a community of local freelancers where prospective clients can then find a freelancer in their own local community. I think there’s a valid need for something like this.   48. I am a client and found the task of project posting in top freelancing sites is a daunting job. The job posting forms are complicated and too much of information to share. Recently I visited and registered in http://www.hireprogrammers.in, where posting a project is simple and uncomplicated. I do not worry about safeguarding my confidential information relating to my project.

I know of http://www.adtriboo.com/en which is worth mentioning as they have 120,000 professionals specialized in video, creative designs, communications for businesses. The site operates in english and spanish so it can also be used for targeting the hispanic speaking community. We got many proposals and finally chose an awesome creative design which was within our limited budget.

    It allows you to conduct an interview or have a 10 hours trial before you hire them, which helps you reduce the risk of hiring a freelancer who is not competent enough to do the job.

  64. http://zumzzy.com/ Its a business directory of freelancers. Its different from other freelancing sites. There is no project posting and bidding kinda things there. The freelancers can make their profile, list their services, portfolio, price package, contact details etc. And the client just have to search the skill they are looking for and they will get the list of freelancers with that specific skills. They can contact the freelancers directly using the contact details mentioned in the Contact info page of the freelancer’s profile. And the best part is its free for both freelancers and clients.

  69. There are a ton of different freelance websites out there and its definitely hard to know which ones are worth yoru time. Ive had a little luck with oDesk and Elance but recently the best paying jobs have been on http://www.workersoncall.com. Also their fees seem to be a bit less, I’ll follow up soon.

    I have been using fiverr too but near everything I have ordered from fiverr has been crappy quality, when I try to get my money back fiverr never helps me and does not let me get refunded. I have had a couple of problematic orders on seoclerks and my money was refunded swiftly. I genuinely recommend seoclerks for anybody who is buying or selling seo/hosting/social/forum services.
